What is The Other Art Fair Virtual Edition?

The Virtual Edition is The Other Art Fair’s virtual art fair series presented online by Saatchi Art. 

The Virtual Edition (May 23 – June 5) offers art lovers across the globe the opportunity to experience The Other Art Fair from wherever they are.

The upcoming Virtual Edition showcases works by 150 top independent artists from around the world within a three-dimensional virtual fair environment giving you more opportunities to discover artworks you love. Supported by an online program of features, you can enjoy art differently through creative workshop videos, virtual tours and interactive digital art experiences, bringing the unique experience of attending a live edition of The Other Art Fair to life, virtually.

When can I access the Global Virtual Edition Fair?

Monday May 23 – Sunday June 5

What is the Preview Day?

There are 150 artists featured in this Virtual Edition, showcased across four Artist Rooms (50 artists/Room) to allow you to more easily digest all artist stands as well as experience the exclusive content programmed in each Room.

We have also introduced a new ‘Discovery’ Room giving you the opportunity to tailor your browsing experience by select the category of art you’d like to explore. The room will then automatically configure the artist booths on display that fit your selections.

For the opening day of the Fair (Monday May 23) users are required to register (for free!) to access the exclusive first look. All five Artist Rooms will then be open across for the remainder of the Fair.

Be sure to check out the pre-recorded 5-minute ‘Room Highlights’ tour by the Fair Director before you enter.

How do I access the Virtual Edition Fair?

You will first need to pre register. You will then be emailed once the Fair is live with direct links to the Fair log in area. Access will also be available via Virtual Edition homepage and Artist Rooms web page where you will be directed to log in.

Why do I need to register for the Virtual Edition?

By registering (for free!) not only do you have access to a new and exciting virtual art buying experience, you will also unlock a number of enhanced user tools and additional benefits including:

• Register for one Virtual Edition, get access to them all!
• Get access to the artists and their new work before the open fair days
• Be entered into the draw to win $1,000 to spend on art at the Fair
• Bookmark artworks you love as you browse through the Fair 
• Unlock our *NEW* fair progression tool that will give you a visual of which artist booths you have viewed and where else you have left to explore

Can I talk to the exhibiting artists?

Absolutely! Every artist booth will have an option for you to leave your details in the ‘guest book’ function. This will allow the artists to arrange a chat with you which ever way suits, this could be over video call or email.

Are all the talks, tours and workshops free to watch and experience?

Yes indeedy! All our programmed content is free to attend and hosted online, but they do require pre-registration. To find out how to register and all the essential details of each event, view our Workshops, Talks and Tours web page.

Do I need special headsets?

The virtual fair is an immersive online experience allowing you to walk through a three-dimensional environment via your desktop, tablet or phone – no headsets are required

How do I organize the shipping of my artwork?

TOP TIPS ON NAVIGATING THE VIRTUAL FAIR

1. Where possible, use your keyboard or mouse to navigate. Many users find this easier than touch screens or trackpads 

2. Use the ‘Artists’ menu bar top right of screen to view the artist list in that Room. Click on the artist name to jump straight to their stand

3. Use the ‘Bookmarks’ function to tag artworks you are interested in for review at the end of your visit 

4. Our artists are ready to meet you! Click on the ‘guest book’ icon to leave your details so that an artist can get back to you.

5. Use the “Back to Entrance’ button top left of screen to take you back to the main entrance of the Fair

6. For a ‘fly through’ tour of each Artist Room check out the pre-recorded 5-minute ‘Room Highlights’ tour by the Fair Director before you enter.

7. For a *NEW* experience use the ‘Discovery Room’ to collate artwork unique to your taste, answer a short set of questions to tailor your viewing experience.

8. Use the *NEW* fair progression tool that will give you a visual of which artist booths you have viewed and where else you have left to explore

What is the Artist Room Preview?

There are 75 artists featured in this Virtual Edition, showcased across three Artist Rooms (25 artists/Room) to allow you to more easily digest all artist stands as well as experience the exclusive content programmed in each Room.

For the first three days of the fair (Wednesday March 10 – Friday March 12) each Artist Room will be uniquely open for its own Preview day. All three Artist Rooms will then be open across the Fair weekend.
