Portraits of the Wild at Heart

A Pop-Up Portrait Studio by Charles Michael Davis

Guest Artist Charles Michael Davis will craft scenes and capture portraits inspired by his black & white photography series, “Park Menagerie.” You’ll have the exclusive opportunity to have your own “Wild at Heart” portraits—one static unmasked and one masked action shot—directed and shot by Charles Michael Davis at our Los Angeles and Dallas Fairs.

FAQs

Are the photography portrait sessions available to anyone?

The “Portraits of the Wild at Heart” experience is available only to Fair ticket holders. You must first purchase a Fair ticket granting you entry to the Fair. Tickets are available via our website.

This experience is only available at our Los Angeles and Dallas Fairs.

How much is each portrait sitting?

$300 — 1 person

Payment collected upon booking. No cancellations, transfers, or refunds. Each portrait sitting comes with two digital files to keep.

What does my $300 booking get me?

  • Two (2) black and white portraits, shot by Charles Michael Davis
    • one digital portrait where you are still, seated, and have your face visible
    • a second digital portrait where you are directed in movement by Charles and wearing one of Charles’ custom crafted animal masks

When can I book my photography portrait session?

A limited amount of portrait sessions will be available to book, starting on August 29, 2023 for the L.A. and Dallas Fairs. If you purchased a ticket to the Fair during Early Bird and Advanced Pricing, you’ll receive an email with a unique link to pre-book a photography portrait session.

Once the Fair opens, any remaining sessions may be purchased on Eventbrite or at the Fair in the Guest Artist booth on a first come, first served basis.

What should I wear?

Charles suggests wearing boots for ease of movement (“no heels”) and gravitating toward any black, white, sheer, or reflective clothing. Suits are ideal. Think: “a rave in Berlin.”

Can I only pre-book for a portrait session during day/time that I have a Fair ticket?

Your Fair ticket will grant you access to arrive for your portrait session. Be sure to check that your ticket and portrait session are for the same day when pre-booking online. For example, if you plan to attend the Fair Saturday afternoon, make sure to select the portrait session that lines up with your plans.

If you have any questions, please email: info@theotherartfair.com.

I did not pre-book a portrait session. How can I reserve a session on-site at the Fair?

Portrait sessions will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Fair and become available at the start of each Fair day.

Once you’ve checked in at the Welcome Desk, go to Guest Artist Charles Michael Davis’ booth to secure your session for that day. Please be advised that portrait sessions may sell-out in advance and so we recommend booking your session as far in advance as possible.

Find Fair hours on our webpages: Los Angeles Visiting Information, and Dallas Visiting Information.

I’ve pre-booked my portrait session. What time do I need to arrive?

You will need to be at the pop-up portrait studio at Charles Michael Davis’ booth no later than 5 minutes before your booked session. Keep in mind that you will first need to show your Fair tickets for entry at the Welcome Desk so allow enough time to arrive.
