A team of art-world experts who bring their respective talents and differing perspectives, our committee chooses the final artist line-up from hundreds of applications. We’re delighted to introduce you to our May 2025 Committee.
Deborah Hartigan
Founder and Principal, DHV Artworks
Deborah Hartigan is the founder and principal of DHV Artworks, a contemporary fine art gallery in the Dallas Design District. Deborah, an abstract expressionist artist and sculptor herself, is passionate about elevating the arts community in Dallas and is one of four founders behind DGFA (Dallas Galleries For Advocacy), a non-profit uniting Dallas-based galleries in providing more cultural opportunities for Dallas residents. She is also a member of Leadership Arts Institute, Dallas Business Council for the Arts, Ladies of the DMA, and International Women’s Forum.
India Balyejusa
Art Advisory & Curation Supervisor, Saatchi Art
India Balyejusa is a Curation Supervisor at Saatchi Art. She has a B.A. in Art History from Boston College and a Master’s degree in Urban Education from Union University. India taught high school math and art history in Memphis, TN and Beijing, China for 7 years prior to coming to Saatchi Art. Her favorite contemporary artists are Mickalene Thomas and El Anatsui.
Benjamin Muñoz
Artist and Interim Director, Print Austin
Benjamin Muñoz is a Dallas-based multi-disciplinary artist originally from Corpus Christi, Texas whose practice spans painting, installation, and monumental printmaking. When not in the studio, Benjamin works as the Interim Director of Print Austin, a nonprofit printmaking organization based in Austin, TX.
Jose Vargas
Independent Curator
Jose Vargas is an independent curator and visual artist based in Dallas, Texas. Jose has been curating art exhibitions for over thirty years, most notably the annual “El Corazón” and “La Virgen de Guadalupe” shows which have given hundreds of local artists the chance to showcase their work over the years. He has served as the Gallery Coordinator at the Ice House Cultural Center in Oak Cliff, and currently provides gallery assistance at the Bath House Cultural Center and the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas, Texas.
Nicole Garton
Global Fair Director at The Other Art Fair
Nicole Garton is Global Fair Director at The Other Art Fair, overseeing 12 live events annually across London, Sydney, Brooklyn, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles. She previously led marketing at Saatchi Art, where she was instrumental in the start-up’s transformation into the world’s leading online gallery. Following Saatchi Art’s acquisition of The Other Art Fair, she played a key role in the Fair’s US launch. Prior to joining Saatchi Art, Nicole worked in non-profit fund development, PR, and publishing, as well as in private and non-profit exhibition spaces, including the Santa Monica Museum of Art (now ICA-LA) and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE). She has over 10 years of experience working with emerging artists.
