Claire Paul is an ecological and environmental photographer whose practice centres on slowness, presence, and deep observation. Working with alternative photographic processes, screen-printing, and hand-crafted paper-making techniques, she creates tactile, time-rich portraits of place that honour the rhythms of the natural world. Claire’s work rejects the extractive pace of modern life, instead embracing unpredictability, imperfection, and collaboration with the environment. Using long-exposure pinhole photography, foraged materials, and non-toxic development methods, she captures more-than-human stories that unfold over time and through texture. The body of work she presents at The Other Art Fair was created during a 2024 trip to the Tasman Peninsula—a raw, elemental landscape that sparked a visceral creative response. In these pieces, ghostly trees and wild ocean currents are not just subjects, but active participants in the image-making process. Each work is a quiet exchange with place, made mindfully with and of the land itself.
