Charity Partner: Arts Emergency
Arts Emergency helps young people get a fair start in the arts and humanities.
Someone from privilege is four times more likely to succeed in the cultural and creative sectors than someone from a working class background. Young people with disabilities, or those who come from ethnic minority backgrounds are even less likely to work in creative fields. This hasn’t changed since the 1980s.
Why? Because of extensive cuts to creative education funding at all levels; spiralling university fees; the systemic expectation of unpaid work; ‘who you know’ recruitment and insider knowledge sharing; and growing financial precarity in already under-served communities.
Arts Emergency exists to change this: creating privilege for people without privilege.
Since 2013, Arts Emergency has been redistributing cultural capital and opportunity, empowering over 1,800 under-resourced young people to be their best, most aspirational selves through 1:1 mentoring with hand-matched industry professionals, and up to ten-years’ worth of tailored assistance, real-life opportunities, network connections, and peer support.
“Arts Emergency has done more for me than ever thought possible, it has opened doors I thought were closed.” – Deja, former mentee
Can Touch This Studio: Sonic Bench 2.0
Sit down. Relax. Play music by simply touching another person.
A Design Inspired by Urban and Scientific Landmarks
The Sonic Bench 2.0 merges urban aesthetics with tactile interaction. The seating structure draws inspiration from the grid-like geometry of Berlin’s bus stops—offering a minimalist yet functional form. Meanwhile, the speaker casing takes cues from the Globe of Science and Innovation at CERN in Geneva, reflecting the fusion of technology and exploration.
A Bench That Listens and Responds
Named Indikator, after a character from the animated sci-fi film The Mystery of the Third Planet, the bench reacts to physical interaction. When touched, it produces shifting soundscapes, creating an experience that varies based on how people engage with it. Whether in a park, a plaza, or an exhibition space, the Sonic Bench 2.0 invites curiosity and participation.

Cass Art Prize: Reuben Murray
We are excited to present the 2024 winner of the Cass Art Prize, Reuben Murray. The Cass Art Prize 2024 presented by The Cass Group championed contemporary art from across the UK; Republic of Ireland with a £10,000 cash prize and a complimentary stand at The Other Art Fair in spring 2025 awarded to the overall winner of the competition.
Reuben Murray is the inaugural winner of The Cass Art Prize. His spectacular oil painting was selected by the prestigious panel of judges.
Reuben is a black, neurodivergent artist who studied his postgraduate at The Slade School of Fine Art. His work explores representation, race, and class, creating safe spaces for people of colour to reflect on hidden histories.
The artist was inspired by Ben Enwonwu’s 1974 “Mona Lisa” depicting Nigerian princess Adetutu Ademiluyi. In his winning work, Reuben reimagines this portrait of Ada, a Jamaican Maroon, embodying resilience and Black joy. The work is dedicated to the artist’s mother Catherine.
Visit Ruben’s stand at The Other Art Fair this March.

The Winner for the March 2025 edition is Kai Ohlsen.
Kai Ohlsen
Kai Ohlsen, known professionally as ‘KOHLSEN,’ is a British contemporary artist. Growing up in Bath, UK, he developed a deep affinity for nature. After five years self-teaching, he moved to London in 2020, establishing his practice and awkwardly lodging himself in the contemporary art scene.
Kai’s paintings are rooted in lived experience, though the subject often takes a secondary role in the painting act: “it’s not necessarily what is said, but how you say it.” Bold slashes of color populate the canvas in a seemingly haphazard manner. Only with distance and absorption does an unmistakable streak of realism appear—the result of extensive academic study, deconstructed, forgotten, and allowed to resurface through intuition during the throws of total abandon.
Occasionally painting on abandoned mattresses or producing hundreds of original paintings to scatter across hoardings and old phone boxes in every borough of the city. KOHLSEN subverts traditional approaches with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, always chasing new ways to probe what art-making means in the 2020s.
