CHARITY PARTNER

Brave Space Alliance (BSA) is an LGBTQ+ community center on Chicago’s South Side that welcomes and supports everyone who walks through its doors.

Founded in 2017 by a small but determined group of individuals, BSA was created to fill a major gap in advocacy, programs, and services that center on and are led by trans and gender expansive people. Organizations like BSA remain rare in Chicago—especially on the South Side—making its work all the more vital.

Stop by the Brave Space Alliance booth to leave your mark by adding a fingerprint to a community art canvas, creating a field of flowers that will be displayed in BSA’s new behavioral health space. For those who prefer to stay paint-free, a trivia wheel offers a chance to test your knowledge and win a prize.

“I Love Art” Interactive Stamp Scavenger Hunt – Joe Kraft

Attendees at The Other Art Fair Chicago are invited to participate in an engaging scavenger hunt that combines exploration, creativity, and artistry. As they navigate the fair, they will encounter 4 Stamp Stations strategically placed around the venue. Each station features a unique stamp, and together, the stamps form parts of a larger, cohesive image designed by Chicago based artist Joe Kraft.  All works of art start with an idea before they become fully realized pieces. It is your job to stamp an image to completion before you leave the fair.

The Artisan Edit

Launching this spring, the NEW Artisan Edit section will feature artists displaying decorative works crafted from ceramic, glass, metal, and wood.

Exhibitors Include: Carmen Perez-Stoppert, Dara Schuman, Flannery Thompson, Jayne King, Jessica Johnson, Kate Humphrey, Lilstreet, Steven Skinner, Pigment International presenting: D. Lamar Preston, Ladipo, Candace Hunter and Gary Gee.

Dead Presidents – All Star Press

All Star Press presents “Dead Presidents,” a group exhibition featuring artists from all over the world. The show is comprised of a collection of original and screenprinted recreations of dollar bills that act as a base canvas to over 40 different artists. The hand-embellished bills question the meaning of currency on an individual level and reconsider our everyday exchanges.

By repurposing real money and its imagery, the exhibition expands the concept of currency beyond its monetary value to include social, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural worth. It prompts reflection on what we choose to value—beyond societal norms or government definitions—encouraging a more personal and uninhibited form of self-expression.

If I Could Just Be – Aespyne Alix

Aespyne Alix celebrates the radical act of Black women existing freely, beyond the burdens of expectation and resilience. Through vibrant paintings of joyful, everyday moments, Alix creates spaces where Black women are defined not by struggle, but by rest, dreams, and self-acceptance. Themes of identity, mental health, and heritage weave through the work, offering a powerful vision of resistance, remembrance, and unapologetic presence.

This installation is supported by Chicago Art Department, an artist-run, BIPOC-led nonprofit with a mission to provide space and resources for civically-minded artists to grow their practice.

Unearthing / Desenterrando – Jassiel Serna

Unearthing is a collection of sculptural landscapes done in paper mache, tajin and chamoy. As abstractions of the piñata, the works playfully guide the viewer through a celebration of a diluted culture. Made to emulate relics and precious stones, these works ask questions about how we view craft, indigenous art and the other.

This installation is supported by Chicago Art Department, an artist-run, BIPOC-led nonprofit with a mission to provide space and resources for civically-minded artists to grow their practice.

JEFF RIVERS

Jeff Rivers is an African-American artist and educator originally from Columbia, SC who works to empower minority groups through social-impact art programs and creative installations.

Jeff’s creates affective spaces of empathy in relation to African American culture. Jeff’s painting practice asserts the Black body is a politicized vessel that is historically representative of interactions of struggles for power within socio-political discourse.

Jeff advocates that ‘Blackness’ is a codified experience that represents the reactionary and indelible will of the human condition. To this end, Jeff’s uses the Black Figure and Consciousness as a foundation for interpreting culture and explicating our daily socio-political experiences.
