CHILA KUMARI SINGH BURMAN

The Other Art Fair is proud to present the work of Chila Kumari Singh Burman, a multi-disciplinary creative who is constantly rewriting the rule book for South Asian female artists.

With a portfolio of art that includes; adorning the front of the Tate Britain with neon signs and collages, references to Indian mythology, to appearing in a Sky Arts’ documentary special Statues Redressed, which followed artists reimagining iconic statues in Liverpool.

Step into the fascinating world of Chila Burman at our upcoming fair at the Old Truman Brewery.

BLACK GIRL KNIT CLUB WORKSHOP

These incredible female founders began Black Girl Knit Club in East London as a safe space for black women and women of colour to create and learn.  Sicgmone Kludje & Vanessa Koranteng, the duo behind BGKC, who wished for more diversity in the craft community are running two workshops with us at The Other Art Fair! Not only are women sharing skills in classes and workshops,  they have published a book ‘Conscious Crafts’ for you to get inspired at home.

THE LINE GIRL

Step into our Fair this March and you’ll be seeing lines. Not a queue, or a cheesy pick-up line, but thousands of lines created by queer multidisciplinary mural artist The Line Girl. Now, that’s a line we love.

TATREEZ EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP

Embroidery artist Lizzy Vartanian will be with us for Friday 18 March 2022 for two Tatreez workshops for The Other Art Fair. Her work is inspired by her heritage and roots in Armenia, Lebanon and Syria. From the Darat Al Funun Culture in Amman, Jordan to the V&A, London…Lizzy is bringing her skills and originality to The Other Art Fair.

Oh, and the best part? Tickets for the workshop includes access to the Fair!

Using humour to challenge cultural codes, British-Pakistani artist Nisa Khan will be bringing her art vending machines, featuring possible super-rare cards.

NEW FUTURES

Discover the work of our New Future winners; Sara David and Josh Scurville. New Futures is a programme aimed at launching careers of underrepresented artists.

 

 

SECRET PROJECT ROBOT

Underground music art and party project mastermind, visit Secret Project Robot to enjoy their amazing neon wallpaper at the Fair.

MATT JUKES FEELSCAPE

Working with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) for this immersive and intriguing installation, Matt Jukes is offering a specially curated AI feature which will capture visitors’ emotions and reactions as they think about their future for visitors to purchase. All proceeds go to CALM. 

NZINGA SOUNDS

Established in the early ’80s’, this iconic duo are one of the UK’s longest running all woman sound systems. DJ Ade (Lynda Rosenior-Patten) and Junie Rankin (June Reid) will be treating visitors on Thursday 17 March to a host of Reggae, Dancehall, Soul/Rare Groove, Soca, African, Latin & Jazz. An exhibition celebrating International Women’s Day 2022 in putting conversations on textile art at the forefront. With an array of materials and limitless talent, this curated exhibition is one not to miss.

HARRIET RIDDELL

Harriet travels around the world with a sewing machine and examines how art interacts with community. She has  made her art everywhere, and will be stitching live portraits of subjects on her exhibitor stand for £150. 

FILTH FLORIST

Filth is a creative flower studio run by Rosy Sida, based in SE London. With her roots in the Suffolk seaside, Rosy reimagines floristry as another art form aiming to produce unusual arrangements and floral theatrics.

OWN ART

This isn’t a fair feature, but it’s certainly worth telling you about. Using Own Art to purchase a piece of work means that the artist will receive the full amount upfront, but as a buyer you are able to pay over the course of 12 month installments.
